Vincenzo Aragozzini

Biography / History
A professional photographer, he began his activity at a very young age in the studio of Luca Comerio (1878-1940).
. In 1910 he opened his own studio in Milan at number 58 Galleria de Cristoforis. The subjects of the images produced in these early years are varied, urban views and landscapes, but there are also images of the Italian occupation of Tripoli and of the First World War, on which occasion he was the official photographer of the Army Corps Command. After the Great War, his production is characterised by photographic campaigns commissioned by major companies and industries, public and private bodies, in Lombardy and beyond. Images documenting the places and the daily work of the personnel, among which are those taken for SNIA Viscosa, Montecatini, Innocenti, FIAT, Philips and Pirelli. In the following years, the Società Generale di lavori di pubblica utilità commissioned him a reportage to document the urban transformations involving the city of Milan. Around the mid-1930s, he teamed up with photographer Mario Crimella (1893-1964) with whom he realised photographic campaigns for various organisations, including one for the Brefotrofio di Milano. In 1937, they produced a reportage on the Friulian town of Torviscosa, which was undergoing urban redevelopment and industrial development in those years. At the beginning of the 1950s, the collaboration with Crimella was interrupted and he founded a new company in partnership with his son Fulvio, “Aragozzini e figli”, based, since 1953, in via Borsieri 29, Milan.
